The Opportunity
We are really excited to be recruiting for this role due to an internal promotion. We strongly support our internal talent in terms of training and progression so this could be you opportunity to join a business where you can take steps forward in your career.
In this role you will be working with our new product development team to deliver high quality concepts, products, recipes and to ensure that products are delivered to spec and on time. You will interpret and pre empt customer briefs to ensure that new and relevant products are being proposed to our customers and brands. You will therefore keep up to date on new products in the market, trends and consider quality improvements to keep Samworth Brothers savoury pastry at the forefront of the market in terms of delivering quality innovative products.
Key Responsibilities :
- Create new products from initial concept to bakery trial phase taking commercial constraints into consideration along with consumer and market rationale.
- Attend product submissions, providing customers with new/amended product samples along with relevant paperwork, adhering to brand standards.
- Ensure strong knowledge of site ingredient list along with supplier capability to ensure relevant and up to date ingredients are used for new product development
- To act as a key point of contact for your customers to ensure that communication is carried out in a timely manner to foster strong working relationships
- Present internal concept ideas to the senior management team and at internal feasibility to ensure visibility of all new products in the bakery.
The Ideal Candidate

- Experience as a chef or product technologist within a manufacturing environment for chilled food.
- Experience of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Working with retail and other external customers would be an advantage
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Able to demonstrate practical cooking demonstrations to a high standard with a natural flair and passion for food.
