The Opportunity
Walkers Deli & Sausage Co., part of Samworth Brothers, is looking for a proactive and people‑focused Area Manager to lead production teams within Preparation Area for the PM Shift, delivering high standards in safety, quality and performance. Lead and inspire Team Leaders and Operatives to deliver the production plan safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
- Take ownership of food safety, quality, and audit readiness across your area, ensuring all SOPs and processes are consistently followed.
- Drive operational performance by managing labour, materials and equipment, analysing KPIs, and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Build a positive, values-based culture through effective communication, coaching, and people management—including performance, wellbeing, and attendance.
- Collaborate with Technical, Engineering, Planning, and other departments to resolve issues, support new product trials, and maintain customer satisfaction.

A resilient, credible leader with proven experience coaching and developing teams in a chilled/high-care food manufacturing environment (minimum 2 years).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think ahead, work under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP Level 3, and IOSH (training can be provided if not already held).
- Solid understanding of production processes, KPIs, and operational planning within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships, manage performance fairly, and drive a positive team culture.
